1The Challenge
A national e-commerce retailer came to CleverBoss after years of managing their Google Ads in-house. Despite a $45,000/month ad budget, their campaigns were plagued by poor account structure, broad match keywords eating budget, and no conversion tracking beyond purchases. Their ROAS had been declining for 18 months and they were considering cutting their paid search budget entirely.
2Our Solution
Our team conducted a comprehensive account audit and identified three critical issues: campaigns were structured by product category rather than user intent, over 60% of spend was going to irrelevant broad match queries, and the account had zero audience targeting or remarketing campaigns. We rebuilt the account architecture from scratch, implementing tightly themed ad groups, shifting to phrase and exact match keywords, adding 500+ negative keywords, and building a full remarketing funnel.
3The Results
Within the first 30 days post-takeover, the client saw a 26% increase in online revenue at flat spend. ROAS improved from 2.1x to 3.4x. Cost-per-acquisition dropped by 38%. The remarketing campaigns alone generated $12,000 in incremental revenue in the first month. The client has since increased their budget by 40% based on the improved performance.
